Dear SVRI List members

The SVRI is planning to facilitate two workshops towards the end of the
year, one focusing on the health sector response to sexual violence with
a particular emphasis on medico-legal responses and the other will look
at women's responses to sexual violence.

The workshops will be based on desk reviews commissioned by the SVRI
which pull together current literature and aim to identify research
priorities in the areas of medico-legal and women's responses to sexual
violence. The purpose of the workshops will be to discuss the findings
of the desk reviews, and to think in more detail about possible
processes that will facilitate further work in the area.

We are planning to hold one of the workshops in east Africa and the
other in Asia. There will be a limited number of places per region. To
gain an understanding of the demand for the workshops we would like to
request a general expression of interest from members to attend. The
expression of interest should be no longer than one or two paragraphs
and should include your contact details, area of work and experience in
the topic areas, location and why you are interested in attending one of
the workshops, and which workshop you would be interested in attending
i.e. health sector response to sexual violence with a particular
emphasis on medico-legal responses or women's responses to sexual
violence.

Please forward your expression of interest to svri at mrc.ac.za by 27th
April 2007. For more information please email us at svri at mrc.ac.za

We look forward to hearing from you!

SVRI Secretariat
