But on Wednesday Christina Geraldine Masemola was allegedly stabbed 17 times by her ex-boyfriend and is now in a critical condition in hospital.

Cameroon Rape Victims Confront Legal Gauntlet, Women's eNews, 25 January 2012 <http://womensenews.org/story/rape/120124/cameroon-rape-victims-confront-legal-gauntlet> : Rape victims in Cameroon can get medical treatment at hospitals and file a police report to set a case in motion, but providing evidence to prove that rape occurred can be difficult. Others don't report incidents at all because of poverty or shame.

Aboriginal Groups Warily Watch Canada Brothel Law, Women's eNews, 24 January 2012 <http://womensenews.org/story/prostitution-and-trafficking/120123/aboriginal-groups-warily-watch-canada-brothel-law> : Groups representing Aboriginal women hope the government will have a partial victory in upholding current prostitution laws. They say female sex workers need to be decriminalized, but they will be endangered if the government stops arresting pimps and johns.

"Outraged" at Sexual Abuse by Peacekeepers in Haiti, Intern Press Service News Agency, 23 January 2012 <http://ipsnews.net/news.asp?idnews=106521> : The Caribbean nation of Haiti, still struggling to recover from the devastating 2010 earthquake, is once again trying to cope with the sexual abuse of minors by U.N. peacekeepers - for the third time in five years.

Malawi Orders Halt to Stripping Attacks on Women, TrustLaw, 20 January 2012 <http://www.trust.org/trustlaw/news/malawi-orders-halt-to-stripping-attacks-on-women/#.Txm85u1hjUI.email> : Malawi's president has ordered police to arrest anyone who attacks women wearing trousers or miniskirts after several females were stripped by mobs angry at their non-traditional dress.

Revolution Hasn't Made Egypt Safer For Women, TrustLaw, 10 January 2012 <http://www.trust.org/trustlaw/news/revolution-hasnt-made-egypt-safer-for-women> : Despite an increasing feeling of empowerment experienced by many Egyptian women during and after the revolution, they continue to be sexually harassed and abused by men in public on a daily basis, as recent coverage of events in Cairo-from "virginity tests" conducted by the military to male assaults on female protesters-illustrated.
