I.SVRI Members Request: Adult Individuals Who Have Experienced Childhood Sexual Violence to Take Part in Posttraumatic Growth Research

Adult individuals who have experienced childhood sexual violence are being invited to participate in the research study, Speaking Through Images: A Photovoice Study With Adult Individuals Who Have Experienced Childhood Sexual Violence. Ann Bursey, a doctoral candidate at Argosy University San Francisco Bay Area, is currently conducting this research study to explore what participants think, believe, and have experienced with social support, personal disclosure, and personal growth related to their childhood sexual violence experiences. This study partially fulfills the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Education in Counseling Psychology.

Participants will include female, male and transgender individuals who are now 18-years-old or older; who experienced sexual violence before the age of 18; and who reside in New York, Miami, Austin, TX, or the San Francisco Bay Area. Participants in this study will be asked to complete four surveys online that will ask about general demographics, childhood sexual violence experiences, and both social support and personal disclosure around childhood sexual violence experiences. Participants will then be asked to use photography and original written works to describe experiences with social support and personal growth around their experiences with childhood sexual violence. The research concludes with one final online survey that will ask about personal growth. This research offers a degree of anonymity as it will take place completely online.

Please consider passing along this information to individuals who may be interested in participating and supporting this important work. For more information, please visit the study’s website, speakingthroughimages.com, the study’s Facebook page, Speaking Through Images, or contact Ann directly at speakingthroughimages at gmail.com<mailto:speakingthroughimages at gmail.com>.
