I. New Initiatives: The SafetyLit Thesis Project

By the end of January 2013, SafetyLit: Injury Prevention Literature Update and Archive Database, will begin including Citations and abstracts of doctoral theses. There is no free source of dissertation metadata, so the quality and completeness of the collection will depend upon faculty and students who provide us with their information.

Fellowship Opportunity: 2013 MILEAD Fellowship.<http://www.moremiinitiative.org/> Moremi Initiative for Women's Leadership in Africa (Moremi Initiative) is pleased to announce its annual call for applications for the 2013 Fellows Program. The MILEAD Fellows Program is a long-term leadership development program designed to identify, develop and promote emerging young African Women leaders to attain and thrive in leadership in their community and Africa as a whole. Fellowship Opportunity: Fellowships in Medical Ethics 2013-2014<http://medethics.med.harvard.edu/education/fellowship/>. These Harvard Medical School fellowships provide an opportunity for clinicians and others to return to the University setting in order to explore ethical issues that arise in the everyday practice of contemporary medicine. Throughout the year, fellows participate in a weekly seminar led by faculty of the Division of Medical Ethics and the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine. Scholarship Opportunity: National Health Scholars Programme PhD Scholarships<http://www.mrc.ac.za/researchdevelopment/PhDscholarshipCall.htm>. This initiative by the National Health Research Committee (NHRC) will be funding the education and training of 1000 PhDs in health sciences over the next 10 years. Applications are invited from eligible health professionals scholarships that are available in the 2013/2014 round of applications. The PhD Scholarships will be awarded to health professionals for doctoral research to be conducted in South Africa or abroad.  The scholarship will be awarded for a period ranging from one to four years as a tax free scholarship for full-time study in a chosen field. Funding Opportunity: Child Welfare - Assessment, Access and Linkages to Effective Behavioral, Mental Health and Support Services<http://www.acf.hhs.gov/hhsgrantsforecast/index.cfm?switch=grant.view&gff_grants_forecastInfoID=65020>. This Department of Health and Human Services  grant is calling for proposals for projects that will improve the social and emotional well-being of targeted children and youth in child welfare systems that have mental and behavioral health needs. Funding Opportunity: Connecting Kids to Coverage Outreach and Enrollment<http://www.acf.hhs.gov/hhsgrantsforecast/index.cfm?switch=grant.view&gff_grants_forecastInfoID=65020>. Funded under the Affordable Care Act, these grants will continue efforts to find and enroll eligible children in Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP).
