Depression therapy effective for poor, minority moms, University of Rochester, 8 November 2013<http://www.rochester.edu/news/show.php?id=7362>: Faced with the dual demands of motherhood and poverty, as many as one fourth of low-income minority mothers struggle with major depression. But the stigma associated with mental illness coupled with limited access to quality treatment prevent the majority of these struggling women from receiving help.

Responding to the Syrian crisis: the needs of women and girls, The Lancet: Viewpoint (Global Health Collection), 8 November 2013<http://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736%2813%2962034-6/fulltext?_eventId=login>: Women and girls are disproportionately affected by conflict because of a lack of access to essential services, as learnt from humanitarian crises in recent years. Poor access to sexual assault treatment and emergency obstetric care can contribute to negative health outcomes.

Prevalence of sexual abuse perpetrated by boys and girls. NEARI News, 6(11), November 2013<http://www.nearipress.org/images/PDF/nearinewsletternovember2013.pdf>: This month's NEARI News highlights one of the first studies of sexually abusive behaviors in a public non-correctional-based cohort of children and youth. VAW Emergency Response & Preparedness Training: A skills-building opportunity from the Thematic Action Group on Violence against Women in Emergencies,  13 - 17 January 2014, Kampala, Uganda<http://gbvresponders.org/>. This package is aimed at better equipping emergency responders to prepare for, launch and support rapid, effective response to VAW in crisis situations. The training, through the VAW in Emergencies TAG, will also give participants the opportunity to raise and discuss challenges or questions they face related to emergency response in their own contexts.
