II. RFP: Strengthening the evidence base for prevention of sexual and intimate partner (SIPV) violence in low and middle income countries

Please note that the current round of the small grants close in 3 weeks. This SVRI grant aims to support research or research related activities that will strengthen the evidence base for the prevention of sexual and intimate partner violence in low and middle income countries. Grants to a maximum of USD100,000 may be awarded. Awards will only be made to institutions and not to individuals. Submit your application on or before 10 March, 2014 at 11:59:59pm South African Standard Time (4:59:59pm EST). Late applications will not be accepted.

III. The GBV Science Fair

The GWI and SVRI GBV Science Fair<http://wesharescience.com/category/gender-based-violence> entries are still open. Submit your 5 minute video at WeShareScience.com<http://wesharescience.com/5-Minute-Science-Fair> and tell us about your work. To enter, simply create a short video abstract about your research and upload your video on the website. It's that easy to stand a chance to win cash prizes to support your research! Closing date for submissions: 1 June 2014.

Today's featured video<http://wesharescience.com/pin/385>: Today we feature a research project undertaken by 28 Too Many on how learnings from eradicating Chinese foot binding bring hope to ending female genital mutilation (FGM) in Africa. This is a harmful traditional practice affecting more than 125 million girls and women worldwide. Dr. Ann-Marie Wilson analyses FGM case studies from Somalia, Ghana and Ethiopia against a model for ending Chinese foot binding and research on FGM across East Africa.
