South African National Sex Worker HIV Plan 2016-2019. SANAC, 2016<http://www.hst.org.za/sites/default/files/South-African-National-Sex-Worker-HIV-Plan-2016-2019-FINAL-Launch-Copy....pdf> (pdf): Provision of prevention and treatment interventions for sex workers is a key goal for the country as a whole in order to address the HIV epidemic and related mortality and morbidity. This document contains a three year plan to address this situation. The Plan aims to reach 70 000 sex workers over the next three years using a peer educator led approach. This is owed to a growing awareness of the enormity of sexual violence that is routinely perpetrated during civil and international armed conflicts, coupled with the discovery that this phenomenon is not simply an inevitable by-product of war, but rather a deliberate and strategic tool used by combatants.
