I.                    GENTLE REMINDER: SVRI Forum 2017 Call for abstracts

SVRI Forum 2017, 18-21 September 2017, Rio, Brazil<http://www.svri.org/forums/forum2017/index.htm>: This is a gentle reminder to our members to submit abstracts for the SVRI Forum 2017 themed "Partnerships for policy action" to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on 18-21 September 2017. SVRI Forum 2017 offers a platform for like-minded people to meet and share the latest research findings on the prevention and response to sexual and other forms of violence.

The call for abstracts closes 01 February 2017.

II.                  SVRI Member request

Call for Proposals: consultancy - Evaluation of Trócaire's 5-year Gender-Based Violence Programme: Trócaire's programme in Sierra Leone seeks to increase rights awareness, improve women's access to justice, and increase their economic empowerment in order to reduce the levels of physical, emotional, economic, and sexual violence perpetrated against women. Trócaire implements through local partners, allowing the programme to approach this objective in multiple innovative and context sensitive ways. The overall goal of the programme is 'To contribute to the reduction of violence against girls and women, and protection of their rights in Sierra Leone'.

Trócaire invites consultants to submit proposals for the evaluation of its 5th Gender Based Violence programmes.

The winning submission will receive a grant of $500. The winning design will be incorporated in to the new image of the Fund - in its logo, website design, business cards, letterhead and other communication material. Sexual violence in conflict - how do we stop it? Thombson Reuters Foundation News, 02 November 2016<http://news.trust.org/item/20161101152703-ds7yu>: The issue of sexual violence in conflict was high on the political agenda a couple of years ago (at the Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict) but now there is relative silence whilst reports of horrific abuses, such as ISIS enslaving Yazidi women and girls and the sexual exploitation of women and girl refugees coming to Europe, show no such sign of abating.

Nigeria: Govt sets 2030 target to end violence against children, All Africa, 25 October 2016<http://allafrica.com/stories/201610260098.html>: The Federal Government has stressed that a Year of Action is insufficient to tackle the menace of Violence against Children (VAC) in the country and to commemorate the Presidential Year of Action, President Muhammadu Buhari has launched the National Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) campaign to end VAC by 2030.
